Moths. Beautiful, ethereal and often overlooked, moths are worthy of a closer look. Aotearoa has 1800 identified Lepidoptera species and of these only 35 are butterflies- the rest are moths.

Quiet, gentle, half-hidden... they fascinate me.

I have chosen to work in black and white to accentuate the beautiful wing patterns and as most are nocturnal... dark and light, day and night, black and white ...on natural timbers.

Fragments of local redwood and the milled boards are from wonderful Abodo woods.
